Pro. 22:29
Proverbs 22:29 KJV
[29] Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men .

Promotion is a thing that everyone on earth seems to be looking for. We pray for it daily and do almost everything possible to have it.
But here the Bible says that:
Diligence brings promotion and promotion pushes a man forward to be able to stand before the king who promotes.

What is diligence?
1. constant and earnest efforts to accomplish what is undertaken.
2. Persistent exertion of body and mind
3. Desire and the ability to do something well.
4. Excellence in performance.
5. Competence and experince.

1. Promotion that comes through manipulations
2. Promotion that comes by marking time.
3. Promotion that comes through diligence and skilfulness.
In this study we shall concentrate more on promotions that bring a common fellow to come and stand before the kings without any manipulations.

There are so many people who may stand in the place of kings and promoters in our individual life. From parents to teachers; from supervisor to Director; from departmental heads to Parish pastor, from zonal pastors to provincial Pastor; from the Regional Pastor to the General Overseer; from the commissioners to Ministers and from Head of state to God.

1. Those who do whatever they are asked to do very very well deserved to stand before the Kings.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 KJV
[10] Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
There is a story of a young man Lanre ( not real name) who read banking and finance and could not get a job in the bank so instead of staying idle at home he took a job as clerical officer in a private nursery school with his friend and was being paid pittance. Nobody would know he was a graduate except for the fact that he worked with commitment and absolute loyalty. One day a visitor came to see his the school proprietor and was there for some hours because they probably have not seen for a long time. While there this clerk attended to their needs in addition to his daily routine. The visitor then told the school proprietor that he had a request to make. Can you let me employ this your clerk who is under utilise here? The school proprietor said I will be glad if you do that because I am actually underpaying him because the school is not capable to fully employ him. This visitor was a bank Director. That very day he collected his CV and was employed to work in bank that same week.

If you do what you are asked to very well you shall be promoted to stand before kings.

Rom. 12:11;
Romans 12:11 KJV
[11] Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

Colossians 3:23-24 KJV
[23] And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; [24] Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

A well produced material will surely advertise itself to people that are looking for excellence.
When those who have excelled sit down quietly in a corner not a wanting to be seen the search eyes of those looking for them will still locate them. Excellence is like smoke that will surely come to the surface no matter how hard it’s owner try to prevent it. When a man have excelled so many things turns around for him. He does not pay the media for advertisements rather they begged and paid him to be advertised. When he does not want to go social people want to socialise with him and many people make false claim that they are his friends. Today in the RCCG and the entire world people want to associate with Pastor E. A. Adeboye. The presidents of many nations want their subjects to know that they are affiliated with this accomplished man of God. I have heard several people claiming to be his friends even though they had just been lucky to have a single contact with him many years back.
Beauty is in the face and the shape of things. Things that are beautiful need no adverts to force consumers to buy. A well produced material will advertise itself to those who know and are capable to buy excellence. It is common to see several brands of automobile advertised on media, hardly will you see a Rocryoice and Jaguars advertised. The king is not interested in just anything or anyone but the best. The people are complaining that there is unemployment yet there are vacant seats in the palace begging for an occupier.
An excellent person is like an indispensable material both the rich an the poor will somehow need it. It is of a common knowledge that water quenches thirst, those who are thirsty are the one searching for water. Even the Kings need water in the palace, so if you are like water the king will surely bring you to his table and bedroom. The king can never travel without you or else he might not return safely.
1 Sam. 16:18
Someone here is doing an advertising for David without being paid. He told King Saul beautiful things about him that:
David is cunning in the art of music
David is a mighty and valiant man
David is a man of war
David is prudent in matters
David is comely and that
David is a man of war.
If I may ask us. What are you known for that could be used to marketing you to the king?

2. Those who can solve problems or provide solutions to a nagging problem deserved to stand before the king.
The king is on the throne to solve problems and challenges of people and he uses the collective wisdom of the nation to bring that to happen.
If you are a part of the exceptional collective wisdom of the nation the king wants you in the palace. Some do think that those in power are genius no they are not their secret of wisdom lies in the ability to bring together the collective wisdom of their nation to solve the problem of their kingdoms.

Daniel 2:9-16 KJV
[9] But if ye will not make known unto me the dream, there is but one decree for you: for ye have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me, till the time be changed: therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can shew me the interpretation thereof. [10] The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can shew the king’s matter: therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean. [11] And it is a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none other that can shew it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh. [12] For this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon. [13] And the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain; and they sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain. [14] Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the king’s guard, which was gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon: [15] He answered and said to Arioch the king’s captain, Why is the decree so hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel. [16] Then Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would shew the king the interpretation.

The king requires advisers like Ahithopel Joseph whose counsel never fails in his palace. If you are one like that the Kings needs you. 2 Sam.16:23:

The King needs people who have managed their own small enterprise and have become successful to come and help him solve the nations problems. Lk. 19:17-19.

3. Those who are honest and truthful and faithful. Num. 12:6-8; Pro. 16:13.
Almost in all professions faithful and honest people are sought for like silver and gold. Even the Lords of the bandits want bandits that are loyal and honest to them. A story was told of armed bandits that went to rob a man who just arrived from the United States. When they got to him they asked about the dollars he brought from his journey. The man went straight for his jacket and couldn’t find the money. The leader of the gang asked him if indeed he kept the money in that jacket which he said he did. The leader then asked his boys whether any of one of them had taken the money and they all denied. Now there was the need to confirm who actually took the money and all pockets were searched. The money was found in the pocket of one the robbers who had denied and the gang leader became furious and said to him you are a thief and cannot be trusted. He was asked to stretched his hand forward and the leader chopped it off with a cutlass.
A story was told of a king who had no heir to to throne. He called all the young men who aspired to the throne and gave them corn seed to plant and whoever succeeded in growing his own should come and exhibit it on the agreed date. On the date all of them succeeded in growing the seed except a boy. The king gave all of them a boiled seed that can never grow. Only that boy was honest. Ps. 101:6-7
What is honesty?
truthfulness, sincerity, or frankness
The king is looking for men and women that could be trusted. If you qualify then the king wants you.
freedom from deceit or fraud.

4. Those who are valiant like David’s men of war. 2 Sam. 23:20-39.
If there is anything that you can do better than any other then you are a candidate for the palace?
If you can pray better than others and your prayers bring results the Kings need you. Kings are always looking for Elijah and Elisha. How wonderful will it be if in the RCCG we had many pastors whose prayers are respected and answered like that of Pastor Adeboye there would have been a greater revival than we are currently having. Such people would have been promoted above their equals.
If you can cook best the presidential kitchen is still vacant.
If you can sing better you are needed in the presidential courts.
If you are an architect the world is yet to see the best building.
If you are medical practitioner and medical scientist there are so many diseases without a cure yet.

5. Those who are supportive of the administration of the king. Pro. 22:11; Ecc. 10:12; Pro. 14:35
Pro. 24:21.
In administration there are so many armchair critics who cannot make any positive contribution hence the king is willing to promote anyone who can be supportive by making a meaningful contribution. Those who see errors in the king’s administration and willing to help bring about improvement while appreciating what the king had already done are always welcomed.

6. Those who can do something extra ordinary. 1 Sam. 17:26-27; And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?
27. And the people answered him after this manner, saying, So shall it be done to the man that killeth him.

7. Those who can make the king happy by:
Doing what is right. Can you imagine the gravity of sadness of those at the helms of political/economical affairs? Everything that goes wrong is blamed on their inefficiency and to the best of our knowledge majority of these errors come from those saddled with governmental responsibilities. If the king will be lucky to find a minister who can do something right he will be very happy indeed.
8. Those who have the Lord on their side. Gen. 39:1-6;And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither.
2 And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.
3 And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.
4 And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.
5 And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.
6 And he left all that he had in Joseph’s hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured.
Dan. 9:21-23; Acts. 10:38;
Proverbs 22:29 KJV
